Sewell – population 37,433 – is an un-incorporated community located within Mantua Township, NJ. Sewell is notable for having the Inversand marl pit, the last remaining operational greensand mine in the world. Surprisingly it is also known for paleontology. Sewell hosts the Rowan College at Gloucester County (formerly Gloucester County College) and the Gloucester County Institute of Technology. A native of Sewell is Ryan D’Imperio who is a retired NFL Minnesota Vikings fullback. To wet your whistle Sewell also has the oldest operating bar in NJ – The Barnsboro Inn.
